Spec Racing Classes

The CHRL will be running spec and open classes for 2wd and 4wd buggy. This is to showcase the potential of a controlled motor class that has something of a cost cap, and relies primarily on driver skill, can provide closer, more competetive racing.

Open Racing Classes

Open class will allow any turn motor, with or without ESC timing.

The support of Campbelltown Hobbies, Hills Offroad RC, Sydney RC Car Club, and Maitland Offroad Car Club is greatly appreciated in making this event possible with the support provided. 

Tyres

Control tyre at all rounds, Jetko DESIRER Super Soft with closed cell insert.

Tyre limit of two sets per car per meeting. Tyres will be marked for each meeting.

Spec Class Control Motors and Gearing

Motor

  • 2wd Spec: Hobbywing G4 21.5; Suggested timing 44 degrees

  • 4wd Spec: Hobbywing G4 17.5; Suggested timing 46 degrees

Gearing

  • 2wd Spec: gearing between 5.5 and 6.5 FDR, subject to change

  • 4wd Spec: gearing between 7.3 and 8.3 FDR, subject to change

Motor timing is open. Please note, if motor timing is set to high, motors will overheat and be damaged.

Motor cannot be modified in any way, other than an adjustment to the timing.

Race Format

  • Two qualifiers of 4 minutes. Best 5 average laps count.

  • Triple Mains 6 minutes long.

  • No cross entering between Junior Spec and 2wd Spec or 2wd Open.

  • Cars must meet RCRA technical specifications.
